HELPFUL PAINT CARE TIPS
Protect the finish on your vehicle by following these do’s and don’ts:
DO:
* Do hand-wash the vehicle often, using fresh water only.
* Do wash cars in shade or in cooler temperatures in the early morning or late afternoon.
* Do use a formulated car wash.
* Do fill your bucket with warm water.
* Do use a soft terrycloth towel or washing mitt.
* Do spray the car often with water.
* Wash one section at a time and rinse often to prevent soap from drying on the paint.
* Use a soft cloth or scratch-free fabric to dry the vehicle.
* Do wax your vehicle at least twice a year. Be sure to thoroughly clean your vehicle before waxing.
* Even cars with clear-coat should be waxed.
* Do park in a sheltered area whenever possible.
* Do have any paint nicks touched up as soon as possible, to protect against rust.
DON'T:
* Don’t wash cars in direct sunlight.
* Don’t use dish strong detergent – use only mild liquid soaps or formulated car washes.
* Don’t wash the entire car all at once. Soap I section and rinse before continuing to the next section.
* Don’t park under trees – sap and bird droppings may damage the finish. (Rinse them off as soon as possible.)
* Don’t wax your car within 120 days after painting.
* Don’t use a scraper to remove ice or snow from painted surfaces.
* Don’t let gasoline or antifreeze stand on painted surfaces. (Rinse off with water as soon as possible.)
* Don’t wash your vehicle in the hot sun.
* Don’t wipe the finish with a dry cloth.
* Avoid abrasive cleaners, chemicals or brushes (automatic car wash brushes can scratch the finish).
* Don’t drive on gravel roads. Chipping the finish is easily done in the first 30 days.
* Don’t follow vehicles too closely. Stay back at least 3 to 4 seconds to prevent rock chips.
